#### [[BHS Silly Mistake Syndrom]] --- ## Not so silly People that attribute a mistake as a “silly mistake” will find that it is difficult to fix them. Sources of silly mistake syndrome are: 1. Low-level attention to detail. This can be transient if you had very little sleep the night before or have other ongoing high levels of stress, but more often, it is habitual after having been ignored or relegated as just a “silly” mistake for years. 2. Lacking logic. This is far more common which stems from a lack of understanding that causes students to ‘miss’ information. Students often don’t suspect this because when they read the answer it “makes sense”, but they don’t recognise that they are unable to create that same string of logic without assistance. ### Lacking logic You will find that once you have mastered the Bear Hunter System, you will eliminate a lot of your “silly mistakes” from lacking logic. The “curveball questions” in exams are derived from the logic in a topic and the system that you have learnt centres around understanding this logic. Therefore, you are already protected from “curveball questions” just by learning the BHS.  ### Attention to detail To combat habitual low-level attention to detail, we acknowledge the influence of stress, anxiety and cognitive habits. We will ask **MR FIG** to help us: - M – Mirror Calibration: Have positive self-affirmation! Think and speak good things about your preparation. - R – Ritual: Create a sequence of events to condition yourself to reach your optimal state.  - F – Focus Training: Train your brain to focus by using mindfulness meditation.  - I – Image training: Imagine yourself doing well and the steps it took to get there. - G – Graduated exposure: Gradually simulate exam conditions in your revision. --- Tags: Reference: Related: [[Icanstudy]]
