#### [[Educational philosophy metaphor from library science]] --- Texts as flints to spark interest and future learning. Not packets of knowledge, but sparking something unique in each learner. This actually has it's origin in Yeats, "Education is not the filling of a pail but the lighting of a fire." This is related to "sage on the stage" and laying out desks in rows for pedagogy instead of a circle like in andragogy. Filling up learners with data to be memorized and regurgitated. Perhaps the point of a liberal education is to articulate and develop a meaningful life philosophy. --- Tags: #perm Reference: [[@lankesNewLibrarianshipField2016]] [[@arpaci-dusseauOperatingSystemsThree2018]] Related: [[@caplanCaseEducationWhy2019]]
